Using a Boppy Pillow

Obviously, a Boppy was intended to use for nursing. There are many other ways to use this pillow to enhance your child’s development.

In the picture above, this child is in “corner sitting” meaning he is propped with a corner or two sturdy pieces of furniture to support from two sides. The Boppy is placed in front with the edges tucked under the furniture (these couches sit up with feet on the bottom–if yours sits flat, just turn the Boppy facing away and it will work fine). This allows him to weight bear through his arms while learning to sit upright.

1.) Use the pillow to prop up your baby on his/her belly. Make sure your baby is far enough forward to place his/her hands on the ground or reach for a toy. This will assist your baby with tolerating tummy time as well as give support for reaching and working on head control

NEVER leave your baby unattended in this position and do not do this right after eating.

2.) When your baby is finished eating (especially if he/she has reflux problems) you can prop your baby up inside the pillow with his/her head on the pillow and his/her body inside the middle. This will also bring his/her arms forward and this is a great position to place an overhead toy mobile for your baby to practice reaching.
